This is Fairfax’s time.

We have been looking for someone to get behind and support as a community independent candidate for the next Federal election, which could be as early as March 2025.

What type of person are we looking for?

Firstly, a person who understands the Sunshine Coast community and has the drive and determination to champion the issues that are important to this community. We engaged with over 330 people via Kitchen Table Conversations and surveys and they told us what they love about the Coast and the local, national and global issues they are concerned about, check out our Community Voices report.

The person will already have demonstrated success in their chosen field - whether within the community, business or public sector - and will be a good listener and communicator with warmth and the ability to connect to people.

They will also have the drive and determination to do politics differently, committing to the core values of Fairfax Matters - including integrity, positive politics, community focus and climate leadership.

Fairfax Matters has a growing volunteer base - for example, we distributed leaflets to 15,000 homes over two Sundays in September - and is committed to fundraising to back the right candidate.

We are not looking for a superhuman, we are looking for someone who shares our values, is not happy with the status quo, and wants to stand up for the Sunshine Coast and make a difference.

If you are that person - or know someone who could be a great candidate - please nominate and we will contact you. All expressions of interest are managed confidentially.
